First Pass on Audio!

The business:

This version of the demo contains:

  • a fix for the control binding menu not behaving correctly on keyboard and gamepad.
  • player sound effects - footsteps, jumping vocalization
  • ambient sounds - wind, birds, nighttime insects
  • music - rendered from virtual instruments and composed in a mixture of NI Maschine, Reaper, and Fmod
  • added control for player to step time of day forward and backward between 4 states. Bindings - left and right on d-pad for gamepads, and "q" and "e" on keyboards.
  • altered bounding area so that the invisible walls on the far left and far right more closely match the edge of the camera zone

The mood:

I've been learning Fmod over the last couple of weeks, and I am so excited about it. I've barely scratched the surface of it and I am already thrilled by how magical it feels to make sounds that respond to even basic player inputs.  It's also exciting that this is so close to the finish line now. I need to get the audio a little better balanced, and I'd like to make a volume slider and toggle for the menu. I also plan to make a better read out for the controls and a little prompt on screen to open that up. If all that is easy enough I will probably also set up the time-scrolling buttons to be rebindable as well.

As Always,

Love and Peace
